Guitarist Carlos Santana and actors Alfre Woodard and Samuel L. Jackson travelled to the Zululand as part of a low-profile mission to see firsthand the problems of HIV/AIDS in Africa. The trip was the initiative of Artists for a New South Africa (ANSA) in partnership with the AIDS Foundation of South Africa. Since 1985, ANSA has raised over $8 million dollars of which a large portion has been given as grants to other non-profits.
